Fastener standards explained.
Understand what the number on a drawing actually controls: dimensions, thread, strength, material, coating, structural assembly, inspection or certification.
One fastener can carry several standards.
A specification may combine an ISO/DIN product form, an ISO/ASTM mechanical grade, a thread standard, a coating standard and a documentation requirement. They are different layers, not competing names for the same thing.

How to write an unambiguous enquiry
Give the product, dimensional standard, nominal size and length, thread system/pitch, material or property class, finish/coating, quantity, required nut/washer set, certificate/inspection requirement and delivery location. If a drawing controls the geometry, send the drawing revision with the enquiry.
Use the Standards Cross Reference to identify legacy/current designations and the Thread & Dimension Lookup for common dimensional checks.
