When should the drawing be sent?
For foundation and anchor-bolt work, send the drawing whenever the geometry is project-specific. Diameter alone is usually not enough: overall length, thread length, bend or hook dimensions, grade, finish and quantity can all affect the quoted item.
What about ASTM F1554 anchor bolts?

Anchor bolt for foundation: which type and size?
For concrete foundations and equipment bases, the correct anchor bolt depends on the base-plate drawing, embedment design and specified bolt grade. Straight, J and L patterns are not automatically interchangeable. A request such as 10mm anchor bolt specifies only nominal diameter: also confirm M10 thread pitch, overall and threaded lengths, anchor geometry, coating, nuts and washers, and whether the requirement is cast-in or post-installed. Embedment and load capacity must follow the engineer’s approved detail rather than a generic size chart.
